Certificate Issuance and Usage Policy


  1. 1.Issuance Authority - SCIPP International issues certificates in a responsible manner and informs certificate holders and stakeholders about proper use and interpretation of the certificates issued. SCIPP International develops all criteria for certificate issuance and is the sole authority for issuance of all SCIPP International certificates (SCIPP International does not outsource this decision).


  2. 2.Certificate Requisites - Certificates are issued after all requisites are fulfilled by the learner and verified by SCIPP International.  SCIPP International uses only the information gathered during the certificate program process as a basis for the decision to issue the certificate.


  1. 3.Non-Transferable - SCIPP International certificates are only issued to individuals and are non-transferrable.

1.PRIVACY, CONFIDENTIALITY, AND SECURITY POLICY


SCIPP International makes all reasonable effort to the extent possible to respect and maintain the privacy of certificate program participants.  For this reason, SCIPP International has implemented this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices. SCIPP International reserves the right to change this policy at any time by notifying users of the existence of a new privacy statement.


2.CONFIDENTIALITY AND SECURE HANDLING


SCIPP International holds in confidence and handles in a secure manner any information of a confidential nature related to, or obtained from, it’s certificate programs.  Such information includes:


  1. Participants (e.g., learners and certificate holders)

  2. Learning outcomes evaluation instruments (i.e., SCIPP Post Assessments)

  3. Keys

  4. Results

  5. Other related educational materials.


SCIPP International ensures personal information is not to be disclosed without the explicit permission of the person concerned, strict personal information security is maintained, and proper safeguards are in place to protect against unauthorized disclosure of information.


3.SECURITY


SCIPP International implements information security best business practices (e.g., access controls, encryption, etc.) to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information of a confidential nature. 


4.COLLECTION OF DATA


SCIPP International does not collect personal data about individuals except when such individuals or stakeholders specifically provide such information on a voluntary basis. Certificate holders and stakeholders need to be aware that non-personal information and data may be automatically collected through the standard operation of SCIPP International’s Internet servers or through the use of 'cookies.'


5.PURPOSE OF PROCESSING


The personal data collected is used by SCIPP International and other SCIPP International group companies, and third parties acting on its behalf for customer administration and marketing related purposes including; to provide resources to and manage SCIPP International’s relationship with all stakeholders, to process and respond to queries received from the public and to send marketing communications on SCIPP International’s behalf and on behalf of other selected vendors.


In some cases, such as the program registration, SCIPP International requires the collection of home address and telephone numbers. It has been our experience that residential contact information is more constant than business contact information because of the mobility of professionals through their careers. This information is only used to contact individuals about upcoming certificate program and awareness information as well as the distribution of certificates.


SCIPP International occasionally performs statistical analyses of user behavior and characteristics in order to measure interest in and use of the various areas of the website. SCIPP International provides only aggregated data from analyses to affiliated third parties. SCIPP International also uses your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer the website.


As SCIPP International is an organization based in the United States, your personal data will be collected and processed in the United States by SCIPP International and third parties acting on its behalf in accordance with and for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. If you do not wish your personal data to be handled in this way, please inform us using the contact details below.


6.INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS


SCIPP International is a certificate issuing organization and maintains information on those who possess its certificates or have expressed an interest in them. If you would like to see the information SCIPP International retains about you, please write to our marketing department at the address below.


For those who do not maintain their certificate, SCIPP International retains certificate records indefinitely.  Additionally, at an individual’s written request, SCIPP International will update/correct personal information previously acquired which you believe

to be inaccurate.

7.OPT IN AND OPT OUT


SCIPP International is a certificate issuing organization and, as such, must maintain contact information on all inquiries to communicate relational or transactional information. SCIPP International also sends promotional material promoting its conferences, awareness opportunities, or other offerings. From time to time, SCIPP International collaborates with other security organizations and companies to promote other programs that may be of interest.  In such cases, SCIPP International does not provide these organizations with any mailing information or otherwise disclose any contact information but distributes the organization's information on their behalf to those who have elected to receive such information. We will always obtain your prior permission before sending you marketing communications. If, at any time, you do not wish to receive marketing material, every marketing e-mail will include an opt-out link at the bottom or you may notify SCIPP International in writing at the address below.


8.THIRD PARTIES


Occasionally, SCIPP International outsources administration and other SCIPP International functions to contractors. In such cases, SCIPP International may provide these third parties with contact information for the sole purpose of performing SCIPP International-sanctioned tasks under the supervision of SCIPP International employees. These contractual relationships specifically address the manner in which they may use contact information and that they may not copy or disseminate that information or use it for any purpose other than that specified in the contract. Additionally, upon termination of the contract, they must return all information to SCIPP International and destroy any copies that they might possess.


9.CERTIFICATE VERIFICATION


As an organization that issues certificates, SCIPP International may be requested to verify whether an individual's assertion that they possess our certificate is accurate. It is an implied duty that SCIPP International identifies and attests to the certificate holder status of those individuals who do possess our certificates. As such, SCIPP International will verify whether an individual holds a certificated issued by SCIPP International or not upon receiving sufficient identifying information regarding the subject of the inquiry.  However, under no circumstances is any contact or other information disclosed.

  13. Elearning – Organizations purchasing batch uploads possess the freedom to populate students at their discretion.  However, once an individual accesses the organization’s course environment, that individual “seat” is nontransferable and nonrefundable.

Instructor-led Delivery (e.g., classroom, webinar, etc.) - Organizations purchasing batch “seats” possess the freedom to populate students rosters at their discretion.   All registration rosters must be completed within 15 business days prior to scheduled class date. Once an individual accesses the organization’s course environment, that individual seat is nontransferable and nonrefundable.

  16. Elearning - No substitutions are allowed once an individual accesses the organization’s elearning environment.

  17. Instructor-Led Delivery - All substitutions on the student roster must be completed within 15 business days prior to scheduled class date. Once an individual accesses the organization’s course environment, no substitutions are allowed.


  1. 6.Cancellation and Refund Policy

  2. SCIPP Cancellation - SCIPP International reserves the right to cancel an Instructor-Led class due to  low registration up to 15 business days prior to scheduled class date

  3. Refund Policy – Organizations must terminate their Agreement prior to the expiration of the minimum term (specified in the contract), otherwise an organization shall surrender, as liquidated damages and not as a penalty, all pre-paid fees.

  4. Rescheduling requests:

  5. -Elearning – Once an organization’s private school is established, no rescheduling will be allowed as set-up fees have been consumed.

  6. -Instructor-Led Delivery - All rescheduling requests must be received within 15 business days prior to a scheduled class date.

1.STATEMENT OF PURPOSE


SCIPP International is in business to provide customers with the world's most up-to-date, internationally-recognized, effective, and efficient security awareness capabilities. The awareness programs are for security awareness purposes only and are vendor-neutral.


2.SELECTION OF PERSONNEL ACCOUNTABLE FOR CONTROL OF CONTENT


SCIPP International is responsible for the selection of all persons and organizations that will be in a position to control the content of the awareness programs.   Additionally, appropriate SCIPP Personnel (as selected by SCIPP Executive Director) make all decisions regarding the disposition and disbursement of commercial support.


3.INDEPENDENCE IN THE USE OF GIFT FUNDS


  1. SCIPP International makes all decisions regarding the disposition and disbursement of the gift provided by the Commercial Supporter pursuant to this Agreement.

  2. The Commercial Supporter cannot require SCIPP International to accept advice or services concerning instructors, developers, participants or other program matters, including content, as a condition of receiving this gift. 

  3. All other support from the Commercial Supporter associated with this awareness program (e.g., distributing brochures, preparing slides) can only be provided with the full knowledge and written approval of the Executive Director of SCIPP International.

  4. No funds from the Commercial Supporter will be paid by the Commercial Supporter to the Executive Board, Management staff, employees, vendors or other parties involved with the SCIPP International certificate programs.

  5. SCIPP International will, on written request from the Commercial Supporter, furnish the Commercial Supporter with documentation detailing the receipt and expenditure of the gift.


4.PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES


Product-promotion or product-specific advertisement of any type is prohibited in or during the awareness programs.  Promotional activities must be kept separate from the certificate program activity.  Promotional materials cannot be displayed or distributed in the program space immediately before, during or after the awareness program. The juxtaposition of editorial and advertising material on the same products or subjects is not allowed. 


5.DISCLOSURE


SCIPP International ensures that the support from the Commercial Supporter is disclosed to the participants, in program brochures or other program materials, and at the time of the activity.  The disclosure does not include the use of a trade name or a product-group message.  The acknowledgment of commercial support may state the name, mission and involvement of the Commercial Supporter and may include corporate logos and slogans, as long as the logo or slogan does not promote a product of the Commercial Supporter.

SWADA – Secure Web Application Development Awareness

  3. Multiple attendee discounts may be executed per the discretion of the Director of Business Development.

  4. 2.Delivery Formats – The SWADA course is offered in five (5) different delivery methods:

  5. Corporate Closed (Live, on-line) - Designed for firms who wish to only have their employees or contractors participate in the session(s). A minimum of ten (10) attendees are required with a maximum class size of twenty-five (25).

  6. Corporate Open (Live, on-line) - Designed for corporations that are unable to fill a class based on course minimums.  SCIPP International may exercise the option to invite other individuals to complete class minimum requirement. A Corporate open class can be reserved with a few as five (5) participants, but will be limited to no more than thirty (30).

  7. Public (Live, on-line) - Available to anyone and are typically pre-scheduled up to six months in advance. No more than thirty (30) participants will be enrolled in any single session.

  8. Recorded (24x7 web-based access) – Similar to Computer Based Training (CBT), the recorded version is available 24 x 7 and can be accessed from any computer with internet connectivity. This option is highly preferred by clients who have world-wide operations or who have limited ability to schedule their entire Developer workforce in a single session. Pre-paid corporate vouchers are available

  9. On-Site - Available for an additional fee and is limited to a minimum of fifteen (15) attendees and a maximum of thirty (30).

  10. -Fee is USD $2000.00

  11. -Training materials included.

  12. -Note - ILT does not include Travel and Expenses (T&E). All T&E will be invoiced at actual expenses incurred plus a 10% processing fee.


  13. 3.Substitution Policy - Substitutions may be made at anytime.  Individuals or PoC (Point of Contact) for organizations must provide substitution notice 48 hours prior to the scheduled class date. 


  14. 4.Cancellation and Refund Policy

  15. SCIPP Cancellation - SCIPP International reserves the right to cancel a class due to low registration up to 48 hours prior to the scheduled class date. Attempts will be made to enroll individuals in the next available class or as schedules permit. 

  16. ndividual Cancellation - SCIPP International will grant a refund to a candidate if he or she cancels his/her registration within 48 hours prior to the scheduled class date.

  17. Refund Policy - A refund will not be issued if the request is received in less than 48 hours prior to the scheduled class date.

  18. Rescheduling requests – All rescheduling request received within 48 hours prior to the scheduled class date will be honored.

Complaints and Appeals Policy


SCIPP International policies and procedures for the handling and resolution of complaints and appeals are found below.


  1. 1.WRITING COMPLAINTS - All complaints and appeals shall be submitted, in writing, to Program@SCIPPInternational.org.  The Executive Director is responsible for final determination of complaints and appeals.


  1. 2.Submission and Review - These complaints and appeals shall be forwarded to the appropriate personnel assigned to monitor all complaints and appeal.  This individual will conduct the appropriate review of the entry and elevate the issue according, ultimately making recommendations for action to the Executive Director.


  2. 3.Tolerance - Complaints and appeals are resolved in an unbiased and timely manner.


  1. 4.Duration - Complaints and appeals shall be reviewed within five (5) business days from written receipt and recommendations for action are submitted to the Executive Director within ten (10) business days from receipt.


  1. 5.Final Determination - Final determination and notification are made by the Executive Director within fifteen (15) business days from receipt.

Compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Policy


SCIPP International certificate and certification programs are compliant with ADA requirements. SCIPP International makes every effort to accommodate individuals with “a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits a major life activity”, as defined by the current Act.

Nondiscrimination Policy



  1. 1.SCIPP International is committed to the principle of equal opportunity in its activities and programs and does not allow, condone, or support discrimination of any type within its organization, practices, procedures, or vendors. This policy also applies to SCIPP International employees, candidates, and supporters.


  2. 2.SCIPP International conducts security awareness certificate and certification programs via various delivery methods, in various languages, and in various locations worldwide in an attempt to accommodate all organizations interested in the programs.


  3. 3.Whether participating in a certificate or certification program, whether as an employee, candidate or supporter, in the unlikely event the individual feels they have been discriminated against for whatever reason (whether based on nationality, religion, sex, race, gender, disability, etc.), they are directed to notify the SCIPP Director of Corporate Administration via email at Admin@SCIPPinternational.org or via telephone at  +1 703.637.4376 (US Eastern Standard Time, Monday - Friday, during business hours), and in writing where possible, so that we may research the problem and correct it as soon as possible.

Certification, Licensure, Accreditation, and Registration Statement


SCIPP International certificate holders, as a result of being issued any SCIPP International certificate, are not in any way certified, licensed, accredited, or registered to engage in a specific occupation or profession.

Certificate Verification and Documentation Policy


  1. 1.SCIPP International provides learners and certificate holders with verification and documentation of:


  2. The progress or completion of the program.

  3. The certificate issue date.

  4. The certificate term of validity


  5. 2.Requests for validation or documentation must be made in writing and sent to Program@SCIPPInternational.org.  Requested information is provided by SCIPP International within 15 business days.

  1. 5.Invalidating a Certificate - SCIPP International certificates are invalidated for the following reasons. The Executive Director shall notify certificate holders and their employers, in writing, if a previously issued certificate is invalidated:

  2. Determination is made that a certificate holder did not participate in the required course and post-assessment.

  3. Determination is made that a certificate holder received the certificate by administrative or technical error.


  4. 6.Designations - SCIPP International does not grant designations or designation acronyms to certificate holders.


  5. 7.Complaints/Questions – Any questions or issues regarding the SCIPP International Certificate Issuance and Authority policy can be forwarded to: Admin@SCIPPInternational.org.
